LASCARI: An Introduction
I have always believed that every place we truly love eventually becomes imaginary. We return to it over and over again, only to discover that it no longer exists in quite the same way. Lascari was born from that realization: it is my attempt to preserve, through music, a world that time has slowly transformed beyond recognition.
Entirely inspired by my native Sicily, this album grows out of the summers I spent in Lascari, a small seaside town near Palermo where some of the happiest and most defining moments of my childhood unfolded. It was there that I discovered silence, fear, wonder, friendship, loss, and, perhaps without realizing it, the emotional vocabulary that would later become my music.
Leaving Sicily to build a new life abroad forced me to confront my memories from an unexpected distance. Nostalgia, regret, uncertainty, gratitude, and hope gradually intertwined until they became inseparable. I realized that memory is never a faithful archive: it is an act of imagination, continuously reshaped by longing.
These pieces are therefore not meant to describe places as they are, but as they continue to live within me. Every melody preserves a fragment of someone I loved, a landscape that changed me, or a conversation that can no longer be repeated. Together they tell a story of departure, grief, forgiveness, and reconciliation, while reminding me that our roots never truly hold us back: they quietly accompany us wherever we choose to go.
